Festival Art Exhibition

Call for Visual Art is closed for 2010. Many thanks to everyone who submitted art.

Our mission is to promote freedom of sexuality, speech and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art and to support living artists. The 2010 art exhibition will feature 300 works of art selected by curators and jurors. Artists age 18 and older—of all backgrounds, countries, ethnicities, cultures, genders and sexual orientations—are encouraged to submit art of any media, to be considered for the Exhibition.

If you are a career artist who no longer enters work in juried exhibitions but would like to participate, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for information. Please note that we have already selected all of the photography for this year's invitational, so if you are a career photographer and you'd like to particpate with the Festival this year, please follow the instructions for uploading art for the juried exhibition.

How to Enter the Juried Exhibition

Accepted artists must be at least 18 years old by April 29, 2010. Artists may only submit finished art of their own creation. The Festival is intended as a contemporary art festival; only art created in 2007 or more recently will be considered. Art previously displayed at the Festival will not be considered for the Exhibition but may be considered for the Festival Store.

Only electronic entries submitted via our online entry system will be accepted. Paper, email, CD, and all other forms of entry will be discarded. Absolutely do not send us original art as your entry; this will automatically disqualify you.

The submission deadline is Saturday January 30, 2010 at midnight (PST). Be sure to have all of your information entered on time and correctly as you will not be able to access the system after that date.

Entry Form Requirements

Note: do not email the following information to us. Please fill out the On-Line Entry Form which will be given to you once you review these requirements.

  • Legal name and contact information.

  • Brief bio (approximately 3 sentences and no more than 250 characters).

  • Description of each work (title, year 2007-2010, media, dimensions, and sale price).

  • JPEG images of submitted works. See below for specific requirements.

  • US$15 entry fee (waived for non-North American artists) for up to 5 pieces.

  • Incomplete or incorrect entries will not be accepted.

Seattle Erotic Art Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry. Substitutions are not allowed.

Artists are encouraged to submit the minimum number of images required to represent their work. For most 2-dimensional work (photos, paintings, drawings, illustrations, prints, etc.) a single image is sufficient but a second image showing details can also be submitted. For 3-dimensional artwork (sculpture, assemblage, jewelry, etc.) please upload a full image here and then email no more than 3 detail images per piece, with the necessary information, to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Please keep in mind that your images will be projected for the jury so consider both overall size and resolution when preparing your images. For ease of viewing and to ensure an impartial jury, any image with a watermark that obscures the image or identifies the artist will be rejected. Check that your images will display correctly prior to uploading them; images that are not JPEG format or do not display will not be accepted. Due to the volume of submissions, Festival staff is not available to assist with image formatting or layout.

Image Type and Size

We request that images be in JPEG format, and be no larger than 2MB in size (in pixels, the optimum resolution would be in the 1000 pixel range on the longest side, which is typically less than 1MB in size). Low-resolution images will be fuzzy and will not give our jury a fair sense of your work, but huge files are also hard to manage.

Although we request that you submit high-resolution images, your upload may be slow or fail entirely if your image file is beyond 10MB. If you encounter problems, please check the size of your file. If you are still unsure how to proceed, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
